Expertly and sustainably harvested elements of nature from Southeast Alaska are transformed into nature-inspired art. Artist Wren works alongside her husband, Jasper, to discover unique specimens that help tell their stories of the natural world. Jasper is meticulous in ensuring that each harvest causes no harm to the forest, as damaging nature would contradict the very message they hope to inspire through Wren’s paintings.
Together, they aim to teach others about the delicate relationships within ecosystems and to inspire a deeper appreciation and care for the natural world. Jasper, somewhat a forest creature himself, reaches remote places rarely touched by humans, gathering materials with deep respect for the land.
Wren is a nature-based artist living and working in Sitka, Alaska. Her work explores connection to the natural world through paintings created on sustainably harvested natural materials, including mushrooms and antlers. Deeply inspired by Alaska’s plants and animals, her art reflects the intricate relationships within wild ecosystems and invites viewers to slow down and observe the living world with care and curiosity.
Raised in the Midwest, Wren was encouraged from a young age to follow her artistic talents and creative passions. She attended a fine arts high school, where she also studied Italian to deepen her understanding of art history and culture. After high school, she moved to Milan, Italy, where she studied fine arts and graphic design at Nuova Accademia di belle Arte further shaping her artistic voice and technical skills.
After returning to the United States, Wren moved to Washington, where her focus expanded from art into sustainable agriculture. She studied sustainable farming, progressing from intern to farm manager, and eventually running her own farm. Her hands-on work with plants and animals strengthened her eye for detail and deepened her understanding of natural systems, strongly influencing her artistic practice and nature-connection focus.
Wren met her husband, Jasper, in Washington. Through his stories of Sitka’s unique ecosystems and small-town life, she fell in love with Alaska long before visiting. In 2024, they moved to Sitka together to start a family. Jasper plays an integral role in her work, carefully and sustainably harvesting materials with deep respect for the land. Together, they strive to create art that honors nature while inspiring stewardship and appreciation for the wild places they call home.
